Processing / Game IQ
Pros:
•Gets his hands up consistently to get bat downs
•Good play recognition at sniffing out screens
•Gets his eyes around the OL to find a lane to get a hit on the ball carrier
•Great gap integrity
•Sometimes can time up the snap count really well
•Does a good job of punching out the ball when he gets sacks
Cons:
•While he recognizes WR screens well he doesn’t recognize RB screens as well
•Occasional bad gap integrity
•While he is good at lining up inside, I think he is much better when lining up outside the tackles
•Isn’t great at reading the QB's eyes when he gets dropped back in zone coverage
Athleticism / Frame
Pros:
•Carries a good weight
•Good speed
•Plenty of upper-body and lower-body strength
•Decent height
Cons:
•Below average arm length
Tackling / Wrap Up
Pros:
•Good hit power
•Good pad level allows him to take out the legs of the ball carrier
•Pretty consistent at bringing down ball carriers
Cons:
•Would like to see him dive more at the QB in the pocket rather than trying to grab him
Pursuit / Bend
Pros:
•Good pursuit of the ball carrier
•Good bend around the edge, paired with that rip move
•Shows good hustle in pursuit of the ball carrier and QB
Cons:
•None
Hand Usage
Pros:
•Good swim move
•Can use that one hand to stab and drive DE back
•Has a really good rip move he uses to keep the OL from locking on
•Disengages really well once he is in the pocket to pick up sacks
Cons:
•Can struggle to get his hands off if the OL locks his hands on him
•Doesn’t have a lot of break-free moves once an OL fully gets his paws on him
•Isn’t amazing at disengaging in the run game
Versatility
Pros:
•Has good versatility because he can take snaps at DT
•Can line up in a 2-point stance, 3-point stance, and 4-point stance is effective in all of them
•Can occasionally line up off the ball
•Can be dropped back in coverage every now and then
Cons:
•Won’t be able to drop him back in coverage at the next level because he has bad coverage instincts and doesn’t possess the change of direction to be effective
Strength / Balance / Leverage
Pros:
•Great play strength he anchors the DL very well in run defense
•Clogs up the lane and understands his gap
•Good lower-half strength and leg drive, which pair well with his bull rush
•Great overall leverage and pad level
Cons:
•Has no real counter to getting double-teamed in the pass rush
•Can get knocked off balance every now and then
•Balance can give out every now and then
Explosiveness / Twitch / Agility
Pros:
•Good feet and footwork
•Slightly above average agility
•Has a pretty good takeoff
•Explodes into gaps
•Has decent twitch and agility he uses to disrupt the OL timing
•Extremely good at shooting into gaps before the blocker has any time to react
•Great hip movement
•Good little spin move he can work in every now and then
Cons:
•Agility and explosion off the line can be inconsistent if he doesn’t time the snap count
•Doesn’t have the greatest change of direction
•Has had multiple foot problems with the same foot, causing him to miss time in the past
•25 is pretty old as a prospect
Games Watched:
•Week 1 vs ND, Week 2 vs BCU, Week 4 vs FLA, Week 5 vs FSU, Week 9 vs SYR, Week 10 vs NCSU, Week 11 vs VT, Week 12 vs Pitt, CFP vs TA&M
Ideal Situation:
•Mesidor is one of the best DEs in class, and there is no doubt about it. I actually think he's better than most people do. Especially considering how close him and Bain Jr. are. The problem with Mesidor isn’t his talent on the field at all; it is simply his ceiling. His ceiling in comparison to other prospects isn’t nearly as high. Mesidor is already 25 years old, which is pretty old for a prospect, and he has a riddled injury history. Had off-season shoulder surgery when he was at West Virginia in 2021, ligament tears in both feet in 2022 and 2023. Had a different foot injury in 2025 at Louisville, and also had a slight elbow injury in the Fiesta Bowl this season. If Mesidor can prove he isn’t gonna live on the IR, he will be a good pick and a safe option, since his floor, I would say, is high. The real question is whether he can stay healthy, and who has the depth to not put all their eggs in his basket and have it come back to bite them. I expect he will start day one for most teams. I think he fits with the Chiefs, Patriots, and 49ers.
