Ideal Situation:

Brandon Inniss has been behind some really good receivers in his time at Ohio State. Inniss was ranked 35th in the 2023 recruiting class. Was ranked top 5 for the position and a 4-star recruit coming out of American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Inniss had pretty much his pick of any school. He visited only two schools: Ohio State and Alabama. I am surprised that after 3 years without a breakout season, he hasn’t transferred. I would have guessed he would have transferred to Florida, Florida State, Miami (FL), or even a Group of 5 school like FIU, South Florida, or FAU, all of which had offers. Inniss, in his time with the Buckeyes, has been behind receivers like Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate, Emeka Egbuka, and Marvin Harrison Jr. his freshman year. All of those receivers were drafted in the first round or are projected to be a first-round pick. Alas, Inniss hung with his commitment to The Shoe.

Brandon Inniss has made his mark as a reliable slot receiver. Inniss has shown flashes of decent route running. His twitch and cutting have been okay at times. After the catch, he has shown flashes of juking and an ability to get upfield quickly. Inniss has a decent frame, but nothing is gonna stand out. He really shines with his hands. Inniss has been very reliable for whoever his QB has been. He doesn’t drop the ball, makes catches in traffic, can track, and adjust to the ball. Inniss has shown he can settle into zones well and has decent twitch and elusiveness in space. Inniss offers a lot of versatility. He can play in the slot, get motioned around, and was a punt and kick returner for the Buckeyes for multiple past seasons. Inniss is also a very good run blocker. He shows great effort and uses good technique to open downfield lanes for his teammates.

Inniss has really struggled to become a top receiver for the program despite seemingly waiting his turn. Inniss really struggles to handle physical corners off the LOS. He seems to get knocked off his route most often and can’t get his hands off him. Inniss lacks any legit speed for home run hitters and isn’t explosive enough to be a true playmaker with the ball in his hands. Inniss lacks any major athletic ability or size to bet on his ceiling. Inniss turns 22 on October 7th. While he has some twitch, it definitely doesn’t stand out. It is hard to project him because he hasn’t had enough opportunities, but I partly think that's his own fault for staying with the Buckeyes all these years. Inniss had a hairline foot fracture in 2024, but aside from that, he has been reliable his whole career. Unless Inniss has a historic second-half breakout, I don’t expect him to be drafted past 7 rounds. I believe he will be a UDFA or practice squad signing. His best hope would be making the team as a specialist who maybe earns a rare snap every now and then on the active roster. I think the Jets, Giants, Cardinals, or Chiefs could potentially benefit from his services.
