Processing / Game IQ
Pros:
•Has shown the ability to throw with anticipation
•Does a pretty solid job getting through his progressions
•Makes his own adjustments at the line of scrimmage
•I think his pre-snap reads are decent
•Experience under center
•Sells his eyes well
•Gets his eyes on the safeties early
Cons:
•Holds onto the ball too long sometimes
•Decision-making can be risky
•When he throws with anticipation it often is just not where the receivers are actually going to be
•Reading defenders and post snap reads are rough
•Average timing with his receivers
Accuracy & Ball Placement
Pros:
•Deep ball accuracy is very solid
•Remains accurate while on the run and rollouts
Cons:
•Ball placement is pretty shaky his receivers could have done a better job catching but every throw is just slightly off
•Has lapses in accuracy, especially on throws the average college QB could make
•Short and intermediate accuracy is just below average
•*Improvisation / Play Extensio**n
Pros:
•Throws well outside the pocket and on the move
•Makes creative plays when plays break down
•Can throw from multiple different arm slots
•Solid scrambler
•Can break tackles and fight for extra yards
•Good ball security
Cons:
•Sometimes puts too much touch on the run and underthrows easy throws
•Occasionally gets too focused on the rush when pressure is in his face
Arm Talent (Strength + Angles)
Pros:
•Effortless arm strength and zip
•Gets amazing zip on the ball
•Arm strength doesn’t hinder when throwing off platform
•Dodges deflections very well
•Can get pretty great touch on deep balls
•Changes velocities pretty well
Cons:
•Sometimes the strength is too strong for his college receivers
Athleticism / Mobility / Frame
Pros:
•Has a great frame
•Moves well for his size
•Can be used in designed runs in short yardage scenarios
•Great leg drive on his runs
•Ideal QB frame and build
Cons:
•Not a burner by any means
•Side-to-side speed is pretty lackluster
Mechanics / Footwork
Pros:
•Gets his hips aligned to his targets well
•Very clean and fluid release
•Has a fast release
Cons:
•Relies on his arm too much which means his lower half and footwork is messy at times
•Can throw from his heels and rely on his arm at times
Poise / Leadership / Toughness
Pros:
•Leader at the line of scrimmage
•Still really young at 21
Cons:
•Don’t know if he is a good leader or teammate
•Seemed to struggle in the big moments in his career
•Had a season-ending ankle injury
Games Watched:
•Week 3 vs ORE / Week 4 vs UCLA / Week 5 vs NU /
Ideal Situation:
•Sit for 1-3 years before he can potentially make an impact. The ceiling and talent is there, but there is a lot of work that needs to be done. I would say Packers and Steelers would be his best fits.
