Full Scouting Report
Does a good job getting his eyes downfield Scans the field well on rollouts Flips safeties hips with his eyes Really solid play fakes and pulls Solid timing on RPO curl routes and out routes Throws before or during the receivers head turn Gets through progressions relatively well although they could still improve Has shown very small flashes of second level eye manipulation Occasionally throws with anticipation
Tries to play hero ball sometimes and results in big loss of yardage and sacks Progressions need to get a little faster Post snap reads are pretty average to below average Sometimes hitting the dumpoff is the best play His vision as a passer is subpar at times Too indecisive at times, which causes him to miss the easy throw Doesn’t seem to be very intune with his surroundings at times Telegraphs his passes to often
Remains accurate when rolling to his right off one foot Can throw a solid deep ball outside the numbers Layering throws over the second level His intermediate and short accuracy is actually solid but his receivers had drop issues all season When he throws with good touch and remains calm he can throw a really good deep ball
Accuracy decreases when throwing across his body Hasn’t really shown an ability to throw his receivers into open space or place the ball away from defenders
Very solid scrambler Can be elusive in and out of the pocket Keeps eyes downfield when free rushers fly through Very quick first step out of the pocket Throws well off platform Throws very well under pressure and while being hit Can change arm angles or jump to open a window to throw in the pocket Does a solid job falling forward on his runs and scrambles Shown flashes of being a creative playmaker
7 fumbles is way too many Always rolls out to the right and floods the pocket rather than hanging in there (it makes it way harder to outrun all the defenders and find someone open) Has to protect himself better by sliding or running out of bounds
Can get good zip on the ball Very good deep ball Shown flashes of having great touch Can rifle the ball in between windows
The ball doesn’t jump out of his hand it takes an effort to put zip on it Needs to be better at identifying when a touch ball or a bullet pass is the correct option Needs to be a lot better at adding touch to his deep balls
Great acceleration 4.65 40 time is very solid Strong frame Ankle breaking capability with an ability to outrun defenders to the edge Has plenty of athleticism to run designed runs Has the strength and frame to break arm tackles
Isn’t blazing home run speed
Quick release Lines hips up well with his receivers When he steps and activates his lower halfs he can throw a great ball Has good pocket movement Shown flashes of that hip snap
Dropback footwork seems a little clanky and his heels are clicking rather than overlapping at times Takes a baby step that doesn’t get any air or velocity on the ball rather then fully stepping into his throws Base can get too wide Relies on his arm too often rather activating his hips and lower half Throwing mechanics are just flat out inconsistent Throws from his heels way to often Breaks his base for no reason at times
Can take some tough hits Shown a strong ability to lead a 2 minute drill Has a ton of college experience Had a pretty terrible o-line that consistently sold him as a passer
Has had shoulder, back, and knee injuries in past seasons
