Ideal Situation:
•Kaytron Allen was part of the 2-headed monster of a backfield with Nicholas Singleton. Allen is a pure bruiser and an ideal RB1 for any team. Allen has been a star in the making ever since his freshman year, and I do believe he will reap the rewards in the NFL. Kaytron Allen has an underrated shiftiness, twitch, and wiggle in his hips that can allow him to create for himself through the course of a run. His physicality and unwavering attitude to stay on his feet are truly one of a kind. Allen finishes his runs at an elite level. His feet will keep churning no matter what, and he has a nose for the endzone. Allen is a good pass protector, doesn’t fumble, and has a well-built frame. Now for his weaknesses. Allen isn’t a receiving threat, and he was never really asked to be, since that was part of Nicholas Singleton’s skill set. I don’t think he quite has the burst and explosiveness to do it at the NFL level either. His vision is better than his counterpart's, but it is still far from perfect. While Kaytron’s jump cutting and twitch is good, he isn’t a juker or an ankle breaker, which results in him getting wrapped around the ankles more easily by smaller defenders. Allen also has no home run ability; the most he can really take is the difference, especially in the NFL, which is 50 or so yards at the absolute maximum. Allen was selected in the 6th Round, pick 187, by the Washington Commanders. The fact that he went this late is crazy to me and shows how little the NFL values RB aside from the top guy on the board. I do anticipate that Kaytron Allen can take over this backfield. Allen will definitely steal attempts in the red zone. At the moment, he will probably get the occasional 1st-down snap, field reps in the red zone, and short-yardage conversion scenarios. Overall, I really like Allen, and I really like his potential fit in a Commanders uniform.
