Footwork
Pros:

•If he does fall, he can pop right up and make another block, which you don’t see guys as big as him being able to do
•Mirrors defenders decently well in pass protection
•Flashed quick feet off the LOS
Cons:
•Feet crossover a little too much
•Base gets way too narrow on run plays at times

•Plays too high in the run game
Physicality
Pros:

Ideal Situation:
•If you are going off testing numbers and RAS Score alone, Monroe Freeling is the most athletic for his size at the tackle position in the entire class. Freeling has a long and lengthy frame standing at 6’7 ⅜”, 34’¾” inch arm length, and 10’¾” inch hands. Athletically, he ran a 4.93 40-yard dash and a 33-inch vertical. For the position that is insane. He gets out of his stance very quickly, has good balance, and mirroring ability. Freeling has strong grip strength when he gets his hands on you. Has a really strong inital punch and replaces his hands very well. Freeling can absorb power pretty well and seals the edge very well. Freeling has also shown he can be super physical and lay you out in the open field. Freeling also plays smart, and I never saw him look very confused, like I have seen with other tackles. Monroe Freeling is still very raw and needs considerable refinement. He needs to add 10-15 pounds to be more effective in the run game and to consistently absorb power quickly and anchor down. He gets caught hitting from his toes too often, his base can be too narrow, and his feet crossover too much. Freeling can also get caught catching defenders when his hand timing and placement are off, which I saw a little too much of. Freeling really seemed to struggle to create space when blocking out of a gap scheme and was stood up too much. While Freeling showed he could be super physical, I also never saw him go for pancakes, which was a little odd. Monroe Freeling was drafted in the 1st Round, 19th overall, by the Carolina Panthers. Freeling is projected to be the backup behind longtime veteran Taylor Moton. I think that is for the best, as he is too underdeveloped in a couple of areas to be a starter. In the near future, I could see him taking over the position and succeeding. He has all of the raw natural talent for the position; he just needs to polish some areas. Freeling tore his labrum in 2024 and had to get surgery in the offseason. He also suffered a high ankle sprain in 2025.
