Processing / Game IQ
Pros:
•Gets through progressions very fast
•Extremely fast processor
•Pre-snap and post-snap reads seem very good
•Makes his own checks and adjustments at the line of scrimmage
•Makes very solid reads
•Can throw with anticipation very well
•Shown flashes of second-level manipulation by using pump fakes on occasion and his eyes
•Consistently knows where everyone is on the field at a time
•Makes great anticipation throws when pressure is in his face
•Has solid timing with his receivers
•Shown flashes of 3rd-level manipulation
•Does a good job getting to his checkdowns and being safe with the ball
•Reads defenders hips very well
•Has very solid pocket awareness and timer in his head
•Smart with the football who doesn’t turnover the ball
Cons:
•Can be sped up by blitzes
•Can get tunnel vision and throw to a 1 on 1 matchup no matter what even if it isn’t open
•Telegraphs his passes a little too much which results in linebackers batting the ball down
•Too conservative at times when he has the strength and zip to fit the ball into tight windows
•Sometimes, he doesn’t have the greatest feel for pressure, especially on his blindside
•Has been fooled by some disguises every now and then
•Took next to zero snaps under center and benefited from a high RPO and screen offense
•Holds onto the ball too much
•The mental game could get more consistent teams started to scheme better for him as the season went on
•Typically throws at his first read even if it isn’t open
Accuracy & Ball Placement
Pros:
•Solid deep accuracy
•Consistently puts the ball away from defenders and throws his receivers into open space
•Can layer the ball over second-level defenders
•Can squeeze the ball into some very tight windows
•Does a good job giving his receivers a chance to make a play on the ball
•Deep ball outside the numbers is very good
•Has shown very slight flashes of being able to stay accurate off platform
Cons:
•Definitely has slight lapses in accuracy in the short and intermediate
•Ball placement has lapses at times
Improvisation / Play Extension
Pros:
•Shown small flashes of creative playmaking skills
•Remains very accurate when under pressure
•Can be a decent scrambler
•Protects himself on his scrambles
Cons:
•Loses a lot of accuracy and zip when throwing across his body
•Does a good job getting into position to make a throw but he sometimes fails to get the ball to the open man
•Accuracy deteriorates when off platform or when his ideal launch angle gets adjusted from pressure/contact
Arm Talent (Strength + Angles)
Pros:
•Gets great zip on the ball
•Can get great touch on the ball
•Changes velocity very well
Cons:
•Haven’t seen him change arm angles to avoid deflections
•Occasionally sails a ball because of lack of touch
Athleticism / Mobility / Frame
Pros:
•Has a strong frame and good height
•Has the speed to escape the pocket when he recognizes blitzes
•Can run a designed run every now and then to keep the defense honest
•Not gonna be a complete statue in the pocket
•Ran a 4.65 40 which is pretty solid for a pure pocket passer
Cons:
•Not gonna make anyone miss in the pocket
•Has no elusive factor
•Struggles to bend the edge and remain balanced
•Bad ankle flexion purely only has straight-line speed
Mechanics / Footwork
Pros:
•Gets his feet set and ready to throw very fast
•Clean arm release
•Quick release
•Does a good job climbing the pocket every now and then
Cons:
•Feet seem a little too jumpy when getting through progressions
•His back foot is going from side to side which makes it hard to time his routes and remain accurate
•Thows off his heels a little too often
•Needs to snap his hips forward harder on his deep throws
Poise / Leadership / Toughness
Pros:
•Leader at the line of scrimmage
•Willing to sacrifice his body and attempt to push the pile
•Has 2 years of starting experience
•Only 2 fumbles on the season is very good ball security
•Showed he can lead a drive in the clutch
•Can take some tough hits
Cons:
•Strictly operated out of the shotgun most of his college career
•Got worse as the season went on
Games Watched:

Week 1 vs AUB / Week 2 vs SMU / Week 5 vs OKST / Week 10 vs UTAH / Week 11 vs ARIZ /

Ideal Situation:

Sit for a year or 2 before he becomes a contributor. Probably will top out as a top 15-20 serviceable starter. I think he would fit best with the Broncos, 49ers, Rams, Seahawks, or Bucs. Could operate as a reliable West Coast or pocket passer in an air-raid system. I think he can make a really good backup who occasionally makes some spot starts and wins a couple of games.
